The JG YAFF club stands for Young Americans for Freedom. This club was started in 2015 by Student Body President, Lorene Kelley. Every year, Kelley gets the club together to create a 9/11 Never Forget Project every year. They create a large 9/11 out of small flags in the lawn in front of the school. This year the group gained recognition.
A staff member from the Young America’s Foundation contacted Kelley after seeing the project completed by JG’s YAFF contacted Kelly. She told Kelley that her work had gone unnoticed, and the organization would like to pay for her travel costs, tuition, and they would allow her to bring a friend to Ronald Reagan's Ranch in Santa Barbara, California. They got to hear speakers such as Rachel Campas-Duffy, Harmeet Dhillon, Dr. Everett Piper, and Robert Spencer. There was also a lot of Jelly Bellys because that was Reagan’s favorite candy.
Kelley’s favorite memory was experiencing the Reagan Ranch. It was a place she had always wanted to visit, and she found it interesting to see the things she had only been able to read about such as the bells. Kelley said that the ranch was much more simple than she thought it would be, and she believes that says something about Reagan as a person. He was a very humble person who enjoyed the simple things in life, like working on his ranch and enjoying what nature had to offer.
