Pride periods here at John Glenn High School are having a contest to celebrate the holiday of love. Who can make the best Valentine’s Day box at John Glenn? Some prides are taking the classic approach while others take the original approach. The winning pride of the contest gets doughnuts! The donations for these boxes will be donated to the Furbee family. Spirit Club is in charge of the contest and have been in charge of many other fun pride activities this year.
For all of those who don’t know Marissa Furbee, she is a caring, kind-hearted girl who has been placed in an awful situation. She is a freshman at John Glenn High School. Furbee is involved in cheer, choir, JG Company, and also a Big for Big Brothers, Big sisters.
Furbee has recently been admitted into Children’s Hospital up in Columbus, Ohio. She has been diagnosed with Influenza B and Pneumonia. Her conditions are very serious, but they are slowly improving, which is great!
John Glenn just had a hat day, and all the donations that were contributed, go to her family to help with the cost of medical expenses. If you are wondering what other ways you can help Furbee and her family, there are other options. There is a GoFundMe page on Facebook helping raise money for her family. Also, if you go to the Nationwide Children’s Hospital website, and find “Send a greeting card,” you can send a card to her room for free. Type in her name and her room number (02b035) and customize a card for Furbee! Please continue to keep Furbee and her family in your daily thoughts while they undergo this tragic experience.
