John Glenn is once again having a Poetry Out Loud competition. Poetry Out Loud helps students learn about great poems through memorization and recitation. It helps to build self confidence and public speaking skills. Students have practiced to perform at this competition with the goal to move forward and continue to the regional competition. The winner of the regional competition will move on to the state competition. The winner of the state competition will receive $200 and an all paid expense trip to Washington, DC to compete for the national championship. Last year, JGHS’s winner was Harry Harmon.

Poetry Out Loud will be held on Sunday, January 21st at John Glenn High School. This will be the sixth year of Poetry Out Loud. Throughout the day students will perform the poems they have prepared for. Contestants will receive gift bags after reciting their poems.  There will be cookies and punch for everyone who attends. Some English teachers are offering students extra credit to attend.

We hope to see you in attendance on Sunday the 21st!
