The John Glenn boys golf team headed back to state for third time in the past four years. While a trip to the state golf tournament was a familiar trip for Coach Orecchio, it was a new journey for the young golf team. The JG golf team consists of one sophomore, Bo Orecchio, four juniors; Chase Karling, Derek Graham, Jack Williams, Jonah Hanes, and one lone senior, Carson Bennett.

The golf team finished the regular season undefeated, then winning districts with a score of 330. Other than Coach Orecchio, only one other player has been to the state golf tournament. When Jack Williams was a freshman in 2015, it was the last time the golf team went to state. This year the team shot a 328 on day one to put them in 7th place. Leading them was Bo Orecchio with a 77. On day two, the Muskies shot a 331 with Bo leading the way again with a 1-over 73. The team finished in 7th place at the state tournament. The team shot a total 659 for the whole tournament. On day two Jonah Hanes and Carson Bennett both shot an 85, Chase Karling shot an 88 and Jack Williams with an 89. The team finished overall just 10 shots out of the top five.

Sophomore Bo Orecchio had a very good state tournament this past weekend. Bo lead the team both days shooting a 5-over 77 on day one and an 1-over 73 on day two. Bo’s total for the tournament was a 150 placing him in 8th place. Bo’s 8th place finish was good enough to qualify him for second-team All Ohio honor.
