The John Glenn Muskies are headed to week 11. This is the team’s first playoff berth since 2013, and the team has not had a playoff win since 2005. The game is this Friday, November 3rd with the kickoff at 7:30pm. The game is being held at Bloom-Carroll High School against the Bloom-Carroll Bulldogs. Pre-sale tickets are available at the John Glenn High School office for $8 and at the gate they are $9, for every pre-sale ticket sold John Glenn High School gets a dollar back.
Junior Caden Harris reflects on the season saying he was very confident in the team going into the season. He said that the whole team thought they had the ability to make it this far and just proud of what they have accomplished. Caden said that the team approached the offseason differently, he said that there was plenty of leadership from the seniors and it was able to boost their momentum going into the season. He said that they are preparing for this game the same as always, Coach Edwards tells them that they need to win Monday through Thursday in order to come out on top Friday. Caden said that Bloom-Carroll has a pretty good team and they have a defense that can be risky and a mobile quarterback that they have to prepare for. He said that he is really excited going into playoffs and he is going to try and enjoy it as much as possible and seize any opportunity that is given to us. Caden said, “I am really happy knowing we have this community behind us as we travel to Bloom-Carroll, Go muskies!”
Coach Edwards said when they established the motto “1T’S T1ME” back in the spring part of the goal was to make it to week 11. He said that the program had taken a couple positive steps in the past two seasons and a playoff run wasn’t out of the question. Coach Edwards said that he knew he had “a good group of seniors, a lot of talented and experienced players coming back,and a good core of leaders” and those were positive characteristics of playoff teams. He said that they took the same approach that they have for the past few weeks,he said that their off-season preparation was as good as he has seen since he has been at John Glenn and the in-season focus has given them an opportunity to win every Friday night. Coach Edwards said that they are preparing for week 11 the same way they have prepared for the past 10 weeks, the process has put us in a situation to play an eleventh game and they are sticking to that process. They have acknowledged the opportunity that they have that they have and have talked about how special this moment is for the players,community, and the program as a whole but have attempted to prepare just like every week. He said that Bloom-Carroll is an extremely talented, well-coached football team that is making back-to-back playoff appearances and have a strong senior class. Coach Edwards said that they see a lot of similarities when they watched film he says they feel like it will be a good match up and should be an exciting game. He said that they are excited for the opportunity and they have had a quality week of preparation and as healthy as a team can be 3 months into the season. The team is looking forward to representing the school, program and community throughout the playoffs.
